8:11 am , Woke up around 7 am, studying Section 2.2 Camera Models and Transformation. Also praying ke aaj quiz na ho . I got 1/15 in the first one and 0/15 in the second one. Today is Saturday, but we are following the Monday schedule because of the classes missed during the dengue break. The book we are following "Computer Vision by Szeliski " doesn't contain much basic information and assumes we have done the pre-requisite courses, which clearly I haven't done. The other courses I've taken are Computer Architecture and Advanced Operating Systems which are advanced no doubt, but I don't have much difficulty grasping the concepts. I have been assigned a room for my research work in School of Science and Engineering (SSE) Building. The existing Computer Vision lab was full so me and my fellow members were assigned a room 120-9 in the building which is on the left of the Computer Vision lab. We can utilize both rooms as we see fit. Each Monday we get together with Dr. Murtaza Taj under which we are researching and discuss the research papers we have read and take on new assignments for the next week. This week I've been assigned to read a paper and prepare a powerpoint presentation on "Object Tracking - A Survey" by Alper Yilmaz, Omar Javed and Mubarak Shah. I prefer to do research work in the evening and in the night as there are very few people in the labs and everything is quiet, calm necessary to do research. If I remember correctly, it has been about 40 days before I last shared anything here on this blog. A lot has happened lately. I got admission in both LUMS and NUST university. But since LUMS had a high priority for me than NUST, I chosed it and am now in Lahore, studying Computer Science. I got Hostel M1, Room #109 (ground floor). Me and my roommate are the only two MS (CS) students here. The other students are doing MBA. The hostel itself is quite big and spacious with two common rooms on 1st and 2nd floor, a kitchen and 2 bathrooms (each containing 5 shower rooms, 5 toilets and 6 sinks ) on each floor. During the dengue break of 10 days, I got to know many students here. We used to watch films together at night with each contributing for snacks during the film. There were a few things I had to discover and explore before I could completely settle here. Its been what like 14-15 days when I wrote my last post. I wasn't busy though , hmm I just didn't feel like writing anything. I have completed my 2nd job at oDesk. The client's happy. The feedback he gave me is : Fantastic job, built the application quickly. Great communication and a very functional app. Exactly what I needed and more! ... I've resigned from Folio3, partly because I'm going to study for my MS(Computer Science) and partly because I didn't get the desired increment I was hoping for. This month would be my last here. I'll leave Karachi after EID ul Fitar. Hmm, I think these sum up my updates. Nothing more to share... The application I was working on is almost complete. I have done its technical documentation for the transfer of knowledge to the next programmers. Well it has been a long time since I last posted my updates. Actually I went to Pakistan Tour (Fairy Meadows Nanga Parbat Expedition), it was a 10-day trip. All was fine there, but I got sick ... really sick when I got back. I had stomach pains, motions, flu , cough and headache. Not only that, things here have gone from bad to worse regarding load-shedding in Pakistan and I didn't got the chance to post anything. Well I am going to write a complete post regarding Pakistan Tour but in brief, it was the best :) Well I have planned (I'm not sure how much I am going to implement it ;) ) to learn guitar when I have nothing to do in electricity shortfall. I have also decided to finally learn Corona and not to go for Freelancing at the moment. Lets see how much I can keep up to these plans.

Before reading this article please note that I don't have any prior experience with Corona SDK or game development . I do have considerable experience in developing applications for Android mobile. I am learning Corona to develop games for Android. To start game development on Windows using Corona SDK, I first installed IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.3 IDE (JDK version is 1.6.0_21) which is about 90mb. I was trying to find support of Corona API on other Java IDE's (particularly Eclipse IDE because I am used to it) but I couldn't find one. Next I installed Lua For Windows which is a complete all-in-one Lua scripting language environment on Windows. Lua is actually a light weight programming language which will be used in development of games. Corona is actually and API built on top of Lua. 11:29 AM , I have completed the three Monitors i had to complete . Actually I had already done it yesterday but the implementation logic was in the Client side code. Since we wanted to make the client as dumb as possible, I decided to move the complete logic to the server (service side). Update 1: I have found a website that gives you the comparisons of the results by users or by country. From Pakistan 50 contestants participated out of which 43 have advanced to the second round. Update: I found this group picture we took :) I reached Millenium Mall at about 7.30 am today because we had to reach TCF School at 8.30 am. After about 5 - 10 minutes Aamir bhai came to pick me up. But the car of Baba jee :) was very late and came at about 9.15 am. He had some issues finding the TCF School . Then we went to KESC Power station at Port Qasim following that Baba jee's car because no one knew the exact location of the plant. Last couple of weeks were not only busy for me but also very interesting . I had learned a lot during these days. I have finally managed to connect and communicate through the device. Though at the moment we only use one socket for communication. Because of it the commands send are in a queue which execute on their turn. This makes the application slow .. We have to optimize communication between the device and the app . Version 0.0.0.5 has been released to the client. The next task i have got now is to make a simulator on computer mimicking the device we use to communicate through an application . The deadline is 18 February 2011. Also we had a meeting with qaiser and osama about layout presentation of the app on all available android devices. Initially my suggestion was to have client tell us all the target devices and then we can make according to it, but we had to have those android devices or their simulators on PC to help us design, like i did on NexusOne, Droid, and Galaxy Table

The Neuro Robotic arm arrived on Monday. Us ko connect kernaye ki koshish ki toh connect nahi ho reha . Upon searching stackoverflow.com and other related websites ek possible hal nikla hai to program it using Android Bluez library. Leken masla yeh hai ke Neuro arm is a device with an embedded chip in it. Ab kon hai jo coding keraye ga is ke andar ??? I am going to try some programming in it , but at the moment it seams difficult to me ... TODO: We have to make "Android Phone as a client (i.e. the phone that connects)" to "Neuro Arm which acts as a server (i.e. it accepts a connection initiated to it by any device)". NOT TODO : We cannot make "Android phone as a server (that accepts a connection)" and "Neuro Arm as a client (that tries to connect) ... means the assumption that the arm is giving bluetooth signals to connect when turned "ON" by my PM is wrong" As part of an experiment I tried to connect Android and my Samsung mobile. 10:26 am , Just came to office a couple of minutes back and was going through my email and saw one by Aamir regarding a Windows Phone 7 app contest that was won by a student of Fast and an employee of Pi-Labs :) I am wondering now that I have been working here for quite some time now and I haven't been able to make one application ... what the hell am i doing here man ... Its 10:55 am , I am in office and have just received work to explore android network socket .. We are exploring if two applications on android can communicate to each other through means of socket ... Will update after I have done the research ... Basically what I have to do is start a server on some port (e.g port 13 ) and let the client connect to that port and then pass some commands to each other ... Now what am I thinking is that , do I have to give some server IP to client to connect to or not ... I am feeling I might have to give that too ... (Doing more research ... :) ) 12:11pm ...
